Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS)

The Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS) are a Syro-Malabar religious congregation founded on December 8, 1908, through the Eucharistic vision of Venerable Mar Thomas Kurialacherry, the first Bishop of Changanassery, together with Rev. Mother Mary Francisca de Chantal, the congregation’s first member and co-foundress. From its beginnings in Kerala, the congregation was formed around a deep love for Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and a desire to make the Eucharistic Lord known, loved, and adored.

The Sisters serving in Florida belong to the St. Thomas Province of Changanassery, the Mother Province of the SABS Congregation. From its roots in Changanassery, the Province has expanded its missionary presence beyond India, establishing communities and ministries in countries including the United States, Germany, and Italy.

In 2002, the SABS Sisters came to Florida and began serving the Syro-Malabar community that would become Our Lady of Health Syro-Malabar Catholic Forane Church. From those early years, the Sisters played a meaningful role in nurturing the spiritual life of the community and helping create a prayerful and welcoming place of worship. Their presence, dedication, and generous service became an important part of the growing parish community.

Today, the SABS Sisters continue to faithfully support the spiritual and pastoral life of Our Lady of Health Syro-Malabar Catholic Forane Church. Through their life of prayer, Eucharistic devotion, and service, they assist the parish in its various ministries and remain a cherished presence within our parish family.

Inspired by the SABS motto, “Love, Sacrifice, Service,” their ministry among us continues the vision of their founders: to lead people closer to Christ through the Holy Eucharist and through a life offered in loving service to God and His people.
